Frequently Asked Questions

Why hire a kitchen designer?

Hiring an experienced kitchen designer is an important part of any renovation project. Working with you, I’ll get to your know kitchen dreams and realities. As an independent designer, I’ll spend as much time as you need giving 1-1 advice tailored to your needs.

After our initial conversations and meetings, I’ll develop conceptual drawings to review with you before designing a complete 3-D layout. That layout takes into consideration your kitchen’s functionality, the space and rooms around your kitchen, and how it relates to the entire house and the people in it.

We’ll choose materials and appliances, select cabinet design, colors and finishes, and work through all the plumbing and electrical configurations. I’ll work directly with your contractors to ensure you’re completely satisfied. I’ll even be onsite for installation of the cabinets, countertops, and appliances so you get the kitchen of your dreams.

Do you only work with one brand of cabinets?

I’m an independent kitchen designer. Because I work for myself, I can work with any brand of cabinet, countertop, appliance, and fixtures. I’ve also worked with homeowners who prefer cabinets from their favorite carpenter.

Typically, a kitchen renovation will take about three months or more. A bath renovation is similar, depending on the size and scope of the project. Keep in mind that, unlike ordering cabinets from a big-box store, we’ll be ordering custom-built cabinets designed and built to your specifications.

How long does a typical kitchen renovation take?

What types of countertops do you recommend?

I work with many kinds of countertops including Corian, quartz, granite, marble, soapstone, and butcher block. In the end, it’s a decision based on functionality and your personal style and desires.

I work primarily in coastal New Hampshire, Maine, and Massachusetts, from Boston to Portland.
