About Susan Durling
I have been an independent kitchen designer for 10 years. I’ve designed kitchens, baths, and interior spaces in all sorts of houses and condominiums all over New England: Cape Cod, Rhode Island, Boston, Southern New Hampshire, the Seacoast, and up the Maine coastline.
Education and Work
After graduating from the University of New Hampshire with a Bachelor of Arts in English, I became a reporter for Foster’s Daily Democrat where I honed my interviewing and listening skills. I moved to Europe for four years and worked in the European Sales Center for Hewlett-Packard. Upon returning to the states, I worked in real estate research and started a family. After raising my three children, I was approached by Pat Currier of Currier Kitchens, who mentored me and taught me the art and technique of hand-drawing kitchens ― a skill I still find invaluable when I begin conceptualizing a space.
Downtime
In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, hiking, art, music, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.
